your concerns - our reason for being

FIREWEST meets the highest certification standard for firefighter boots. Our FIREWEST 5050 model designed for structural fire complies with NFPA 1971:2018, and the FIREWEST 5051 model designed for forest fire complies with NFPA 1977:2022. These standards are the most recent versions of their kind. It’s important to note that our certifying body is UL Laboratories from the USA, one of the most important laboratories worldwide. This level of certification ensures quality and guarantees the performance of FIREWEST products.

NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) is an organization founded in the United States in 1896, responsible for creating and maintaining minimum standards and requirements for fire prevention. For leather boots, NFPA 1971:2018 applies to specialized boots for structural fire, and NFPA 1977:2022 applies to specialized boots for forest fire. FIREWEST is a 100% certified brand.

Don’t be misled; always demand PRODUCT CERTIFICATION, as it is the only thing that guarantees protection against high-risk levels. While a material may be certified, it does not necessarily mean the finished product (boots) is certified. Many manufacturers claim quality materials without being a certified company, and therefore, without proper product certifications. Only 7 brands worldwide have NFPA standards for leather firefighter boots certified by UL Laboratories. FIREWEST is one of these 7 brands.

While the boots are made with the best materials that ensure technical compliance and, therefore, the attainment of certifications that guarantee product quality, their lifespan is subjective and often depends on proper use and maintenance. Additionally, it’s essential to consider the extreme conditions to which the footwear is typically subjected. Based on our experience and statistics, our boots can last for very long periods due to their high quality.

It’s important to note that the warranty covers aspects related to material defects or manufacturing deficiencies but does not cover damage resulting from improper use or normal wear and tear under extreme usage conditions. Therefore, a warranty claim can be made within the first 6 months of use. If approved, the footwear will be exchanged immediately for new boots. If rejected, the footwear will be returned along with a technical
report explaining the rejection. Reporting a warranty claim within the first 6 months does not guarantee its acceptance.

As this is a highly specialized product, we manufacture based on orders and typically do not maintain inventories. It is not recommended. Different safety standards specify special and specific products for each type of fire. Therefore, NFPA standards clearly differentiate between products for structural fire and products for forest fire. FIREWEST offers various certified products tailored to each use.

Your safety is paramount. Regarding temperature and many other risks you face, our boots provide total protection by complying with NFPA 1971:2018 standards from UL Laboratories. This certification ensures compliance with all risks that this type of boot must cover. By using
our 5050 FIREWEST boots, you benefit from the highest level of protection available for structural fire.

The FIREWEST 5051 model is ideal for daily use, providing high comfort and extreme safety. Firefighters will always be ready for any forest emergency and rescue. From station duty to emergency response, our boots meet the highest standards of the FIREWEST brand.

We have evolved in this regard. All our toe caps are made of a specialized composite that, while not metallic, offers higher levels of impact and compression resistance. This advanced technology ensures total impact and compression resistance, is non-conductive, does not
transmit temperature, offers chemical resistance in the presence of acids, and does not corrode or absorb moisture.

NFPA 1977:2022, which governs the FIREWEST 5051 model standard, does not include a safety toe. Internationally, it is not recommended to use a safety toe, whether steel or composite, for fighting forest fires.

It depends on how you measure it, but we provide two options to address your query. Internally, from the comfort insole, it has a height of 295mm. Externally, from the tread (bottom of the sole), it has a height of 345mm. It’s important to note that the height is governed by NFPA 1971:2018, indicating that our boots meet the required height for use.

Depending on the country where you are located, you can request using your usual size numbering. We use American and European sizing to serve different countries. The only recommendation is to request one size larger than your usual casual footwear size.

ABSOLUTELY NOT. We apologize for being so stringent, but as a product designed with advanced technology to protect users, it should not undergo this type of repair. In the face of such damage, for your safety, you should stop using the boots and replace them with new ones. We understand your concern and want to support and thank you for your interest in our brand. Contact us, and we will provide you with a special discount so you can replace your boots.
